Recipe Review: Cookies and Cream Fudge

I’m not much of a sweets person myself unless it’s ice cream but I love to make them. Every so often I’ll try out a new recipe and bring it into the office and let them have at it. Such was the case with this Cookies and Cream Fudge recipe from Lil Luna.

Cookies and Cream Fudge

Serves:  not listed but this easily could make 36 bars

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (I used light)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 1/2 cups white chocolate chips
  • 1 can marshmallow fluff (7 ounces)
  • 20 Oreos crushed

DIRECTIONS

THOUGHTS

  • Super easy to make and smells amazing – this smells EXACTLY like Blue Bell Cookies & Cream ice cream. I wish I could turn it into a candle!
  • This was a huge hit at the office.
  • Even though this only fills a 9×9 pan it’s so rich and decadent that you need to cut it into small squares which ultimately means that it feeds quite a lot of people.
  • This is a great dessert recipe for all the non-bakers out there!

Window Shopping Wednesday – Paper Source (2014)

It’s been a long time since I’ve done a Window Shopping Wednesday but my latest Paper Source catalog came in the mail and I just couldn’t resist. There are a few items I’d really like to have and I considered purchasing them myself but maybe I’ll get lucky and someone (ahem, mom? husband? Are you paying attention??) will get them for me for my birthday or Christmas. A girl can hope!

I love these Kate Spade Bow Paper Clips. Aren’t they just so snazzy???

This Woodland Cheese Board just makes me smile. I would love to have this around for entertaining.

Adorable Fox Tea Towels? Yes please!

What about these fabulous Ceramic Bowls (1, 2, 3)? Wouldn’t they be just the greatest addition to a spring tablescape?? I think #2 (the Orange Floral Ceramic Bowl) is my favorite but I love that you can mix and match them all together.  You’d need at least 2 of each though.

Recipe Review: Coconut Banana Bread

I’ve had some leftover flaked coconut in my pantry for a while now and when I stumbled across this recipe here I just knew I had to make it.

THOUGHTS

  • I made one big loaf instead of 4 mini loafs (like the originator of this recipe did).  One piece of this bread with a large glass of milk makes for a delicious breakfast.  So yummy.
  • I couldn’t find light coconut milk like the recipe calls for so I used regular milk and it tasted just fine.  If you can’t find the light, don’t stress about it.
  • I would suggest that you pulse your sweetened flaked coconut a few times in a food processor before incorporating into the recipe.  Leaving it ‘as-is’ made for a slightly stringy texture in some areas.
  • This would also make a great gift for Christmas or some other occasion where you want to give several people homemade baked goods.  Since you can make 4 mini loaves with one batch you could make quite a few in a relatively short amount of time.

Window Shopping Wednesday – Woolly Fabulous

I cannot remember how I found this shop but OMG I’m in love.  I just want to order one of everything and call it a day.  Odile, the owner, has wicked talent.  I’m super jealous!!  There will definitely be some of these babies purchased for some lovely ladies I know, and perhaps all of them a few for myself as well.

I know that Christmas just passed but as far as I’m concerned that just means that it’s time to start shopping for this coming Christmas!  I love this felt and zipper holly and berries brooch.  What a unique way to spread some Christmas cheer!!!

Isn’t this felt and zipper bee brooch just the cutest thing?  If you have a friend who is an elementary school teacher I think they’d absolutely adore this!

Know someone that sews?  I bet they’d love this whimsical felt and zipper mushroom pincushion.  Even better, it could double as an ornament with that nifty loop at the top.  Eek!  So cute!

There’s even a red mushroom (a la Mario Brothers) felt and zipper pincushion/ornament.

Are you into the owl trend or do you know someone who is?  I think just about every teenage / college-age girl on the planet would love this brown felt and zipper owl brooch.  I love the little touches she adds like the little heart branch that this owl is perched on.

The very first thing I saw (and adored) was this Hedgehogs Valentine Card Kit.  SO STINKING CUTE!

Hedgehogs Valentine Card Kit

I came. I loved.  I bought.  This 2013 Paper Source Wall Art Calendar should be considered art.

I didn’t know I have a thing for hedgehogs but come on!  How precious is this Hedgehogs Wrapping Paper?

Again with the hedgehogs.  I so badly wanted these Hedgehog Magnets but I didn’t buy them.  I’m hoping some little elf will put them in my stocking next year.  Or maybe in my birthday box?

This Obsessive Chef Cutting Board totally cracked me up because my husband is the resident ‘chopper’ in our house and always gets stuck chopping vegetables for me.  He’s always asking me exactly what size I want them chopped.

I fell in love with several of their rubber stamps.  I might just have to buy some of these babies if I ever get into card making (or something else equally as fun and creative that uses stamps).

Window Shopping Wednesday – Knot and Bow

Do you ever get to the point when you have all of this stuff that you know you should be doing, and even that you want to do but yet you still can’t find the motivation to get it done?  I’m there.  Mostly I’m only in that position when it comes to the blog though.  I have a ton of stuff that I want to write about and tell you guys about but I just don’t feel like putting in the work that it takes to get a blog post ready.  I’m not sure if that’s laziness or just my brain telling me I need to take a break.  Maybe some of both.  Nonetheless… I’m trudging on.  Go me.

I’m one of those people that totally believes that it’s the details that can make or break something.  I love adding that little extra pop to something that is just the cherry on top.  This wonderful Etsy shop (don’t you just love Etsy??) called Knot and Bow specializes in those little accessories.  Come shop with me!

This weeks featured shop:  Knot and Bow

Window Shopping Wednesday – Tasha McKelvey Handmade Clay Goodness

Hi friends.  So are you guys enjoying my Window Shopping Wednesday posts?  I’m only asking because I want to know if I should continue with them in 2013.  Let me know!

This weeks featured shop:  Tasha McKelvey Handmade Clay Goodness

This is the product that first attracted me to Tasha’s talent.  It’s called the Love Birds Bowl.  It comes in a variety of sizes and colors and I just think this would be so sweet as part of a wedding present (I’d fill it with edible goodies of some kind).

These Aqua Leaf Bobby Pins are fantastic – just enough classy + quirk for my taste.

I think this Wood Grain Tray (comes in several colors) would be really adorable in a bathroom as a place to put your rings while you wash your hands.  AND since it’s wood grain, I don’t even think many men out there would be sad to see this in their bathrooms.

These Feather Earrings are so versatile that you could easily dress them up or down.  I wear a lot of cardigan sets in the winter and I think these would be the perfect touch to go with them.  They come in several colors, but my favorite is white.

If you like to give beautifully crafted ornaments to your friends and family for Christmas you really should consider this Santa Claus Ornament.  What a beauty.

Thanks for shopping with me today!

Please support local or independent shops for your Christmas shopping this year.  You can find incredible goodies on sites like Etsy! (this is not a sponsored post)

Window Shopping Wednesday

If you know me at all then you know that I have a love for all things ‘animal.’  I have a wonderful dog who I adore and I love to spoil her when I can.  She has more toys then she knows what to do with and she has food allergies so I can’t get her very many treats.  I can, however, spoil my friends dogs on occasion!

This weeks featured shop:  Harry Barker

These Country Treats would be a great Christmas gifts for the pups in your life.

I really love these Dog Food Containers.  It looks so much nicer than giant bags of dog food hanging out on your pantry floor!

When you’re taking your pooch on a walk you should definitely have these Biodegradable Baggies with you.

If you like to purchase gifts that give back then you should absolutely consider these Canines for Veterans Dog Treats.  First, Canines for Veterans saves dogs’ lives, rescuing them from shelters.  Next, they teach military inmates how to train these dogs to serve wounded veterans. This gives the inmates a purpose and helps rehabilitate them.  Finally, the trained dogs are paired with wounded veterans, assisting them with everyday tasks and enriching their lives. For more information please visit CaninesforVeterans.org.  A portion of the sale of this product will go to support this worthy cause.

I know my dog would looove to play tug of war with these Cotton Rope Carrots.

If you really want to spoil your pet or to celebrate the addition of a new pet how about this Gift Bucket (there are several options available)?

Thanks for shopping with me today!  Now go take your pooch for a walk!

I’d love to send this postcard pillow to my nephews someday.  Isn’t this the coolest idea???

Olive you.  How cheeky!

I think this mister and missis pillow would be a great gift for newlyweds.

And if there’s a kiddo on your Christmas list this year you should definitely check out this panda pillow.   Just precious!

Thanks for shopping with me today!  See you next week!

Window Shopping Wednesday – Little Woodlanders

So I stumbled on this website the other day and I just had to share with you guys!  I think her ideas on toys are great.

Here’s what she has to say:  I started making wooden toys for my children shortly after I discovered the Waldorf ideas about play. I love the idea of open-ended toys, made of beautiful natural materials, that allow children to use their imagination. Toys that can be used in so many different ways, not just with one function or purpose. It’s such a joy to hold a beautiful wooden toy in your hand, a piece of nature. It’s even more of a joy watching children’s imaginations go wild with the toys!

This weeks featured shop:  Little Woodlanders

I think this Life Cycle of a Butterfly is a great idea for a child or for a teacher.  It’s visual and tangible.  Lovely.

Aren’t these little chicks just adorable?  I definitely would love to have these guys for my Easter table!

I love ladybugs and think this little guy (gal?) is just precious.

I think these acorns would make great decoration for fall or you could even use them as hostess gifts.

I think this is a beautiful figurine that any new mother would enjoy.
