Window Shopping Wednesday – Spoonflower (and a GIVEAWAY!!)

Hi all!  So have you heard of Spoonflower??  Honestly I never had until one of my favorite blogs, Young House Love, featured them HERE.  I love the idea of being able to custom create your own fabric and I especially love it for the way the Petersik’s have used it… creating fabric from their kiddo’s own drawings.  Can you imagine making a quilt out of that someday (or, more realistically, paying someone to make a quilt out of that someday)?  Your kids passing it on to their kids and so forth and so on???  How incredible would that be?

They have all kinds of fabric options – Quilting Weight Cotton, Basic Cotton, Voile, Jersey, Canvas, Sateen, Silk, Twill…the list goes on and on!!!  Even better – they’ve branched out now and even offer Wallpaper and Gift Wrap!!!  You can view an entire list of all of the options here.

Not creative or don’t have kiddos to draw some art for you?  No worries!  They have tons of other peoples creative ideas that you can purchase as well (and they’re pretty darn awesome if I do say so myself).  Go shopping with me!!

Mermaids and Paper Boats

I think this Mermaids and Paper Boats fabric is just adorable.  I love that it’s girly without being all pink-and-sparkles-exploded-everywhere type of girly.

Urban Dragonfly

This Urban Dragonfly fabric would be great in a quilt.

Christmas with Love

I know it’s only February but Christmas is my favorite holiday so you know that this Christmas With Love fabric caught my eye!

Star Constellation

Wouldn’t this Star Constellation wallpaper totally rock if you put it on the ceiling of a kids room?

graphic fall leaves

This Graphic Fall Leaves giftwrap would look absolutely amazing with metallic ribbon.

Cute baby dragon

I know several of my friends kids (and, ok, several of my adult friends too) who would squeal with joy if they received a present wrapped in this Cute Baby Dragon giftwrap.

Retro ski fox and grizzly bear

And last but not least one more Christmas themed item… this Retro Ski Fox and Grizzly Bear giftwrap.  Eek!  So cute!

Okay okay, now that I’ve shown you a few of the wonderful items that Spoonflower has to offer let’s get down to the part I know you’re all waiting for… the GIVEAWAY!!!

What do you get if you win?? A credit for one yard of custom printed Kona cotton fabric!!  That means you can order one yard and get it for $0 or you could order 60 yards and get one free.  Your choice!!  🙂

How do you win??

Disclaimer:  I was not in any way compensated for this post.  I just think that the items that Spoonflower has to offer rock.

Fab Feature – Orchard Girls

If you’ve been reading my blog for any point of time then you know that all of my kids have four legs and a tail.  If you know me at all on a personal level then you know that the only kids I will ever have will have four legs and a tail.  That being said, I can still appreciate super cute kid stuff like this fabulous little boy nursery mood board from Orchard Girls.

Please pin directly from Orchard Girls.

I mean really, how stinking cute is that??? Let’s play the favorite part game!  Mine would be that woodland painting with the Pinterest link that, of course, leads to nowhere.  Go figure.  Ha!

Be sure to come back on Wednesday for Window Shopping Wednesday because I’ll be hosting my first ever giveaway from a shop I L*O*V*E!!! See you soon!

Window Shopping Wednesday – Honey be Good

Holy moley my loves!  I ran across this shop the other day and OMG!!!  Talk about some cuuuuute fabrics!  Eek!  Plus, they’re good for you and the environment.  Check it out…

All of the cotton fabric in our shop is certified organic by either The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) or the Organic Exchange. Look for the ‘Growth and Production’ tab on the fabric detail page for information on the certifying entity.

We also carry hemp blends. Hemp is naturally pest-resistant, uses less water than cotton and is generally considered a sustainable crop not needing certification. Our solid color hemp fabric is a hemp/lyocel blend. The hand screen-printed textiles are on a hemp/GOTS organic cotton base cloth.

This Modern Home Fat Quarter Bundle … oh… what can I say about it?  Uhh, I’m in love with the llamas?  So stinking adorable.  This would make a to die for quilt.

I {heart} these Banksia Trees!  Can’t you just imagine a pillow made with this fabric?

Banksia Bloom - Banksia Trees

This print is called Chick Chick by Nancy Mims and if you look reeeaaaal close you’ll notice that the redish color is actually hens standing on top of eggs.  Cheeky!  For some reason I’d really like to put this fabric on something in our screened patio.

Chick Chick by Nancy Mims

This print is called Harmony Art Sateen – 10 Flowers and I can totally see this in a little girls room somewhere… perhaps as a line of fabric on the bottom of a solid white quilt?  So sweet.

Harmony Art Sateen - 10 Flowers

My MIL is going through a bit of a bird phase and I’m sure she’d love this Little Blue Birds print by Havana.  This would be really cute as a seat cover on a screened in patio chair.

Havana - Little Blue Birds

When I saw this fabric I thought “how mod!” which is funny considering it’s called MicroMod – Tick Tock White.  To add a bit of glitz, I would sew clear sequins onto the small white dots in the center.

MicroMod - Tick Tock White

I think this New Leaf – Festoon fabric would make an adorable skirt for the spring, especially if topped with a cardigan set.

New Leaf - Festoon

Have a little one in your life?  This Nursery Flannel – Ele-fête! might just be the perfect thing!

Nursery Flannel - Ele-fête!

This Raaga – Roost print is just lovely.  I love the colors and you know I love me some peacocks.

Does this make anyone else want to hoard fabric or is it just me?

Happy shopping!

Window Shopping Wednesday – Pink Chalk Fabric

One of my goals for 2013 was to spend more time crafting.  So far, that’s been a success.  I spent one weekend in January crafting and my February crafting day is coming up soon.  I haven’t actually gotten much accomplished… it’s more like sorting through all of my projects that are in some stage of started and figuring out where to go from there.  I’ve made a few things though.  I promise I’ll show you pictures and what not soon.

I have a bootie-load of fabric in my fabric stash so I’m not actually in the market for more.  I’ve succeeded in not purchasing any for several months now but that’s mostly due to avoiding places like Joann’s like the plague.  Haha.

I did run across this cute little shop called Pink Chalk Fabrics online the other day though (completely by accident, I swear) and I thought we could at least virtually shop for some fun fabric.

This weeks featured shop:  Pink Chalk Fabric

Kokka Nancy Wolff Space Explorers Purple

I’m going through a bit of an elephant phase right now.  Can you guess why I love this fabric?  😉

Kokka Dutch Door Press Matryoshka Dolls

I think this fabric is just precious.  I have no idea what I’d make using it but I love it.

Laurie Wisbrun Olive The Ostrich Olive Pink

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day – this fabric would be so cute used in your Valentine’s decoration for next year.  Perhaps made into a dish towel?

Patty Sloniger Les Amis Socks the Fox Aqua

Oh holy mother… I think I just cheated on my husband.  I want, I need, I ADORE this fabric.  *DROOL*

Patty Sloniger Les Amis Turtle Parade Teal

Speaking of my husband… ya’ll know we have a thing for turtles in our house… (see here and here)

Patty Young Textured Basics Hexies Multi

I love these hexies!  It’s like paper piecing without all the work!

Tula Pink Salt Water Sea Stripes Aqua

The movement in this is just exquisite.

Oh my.  Now I want to go fabric shopping.

Sigh.

Master Bedroom… Decisons Are Made!!!

inspiration photo

So I think we’ve finally figured it out!  We’ve found a picture that both my husband and I can agree on for our master bedroom.  Even better, the bed we’ve already purchased is nearly identical to the one pictured.  Yippee!  My inspiration picture (above) is from Gary Riggs Home via Pinterest.

We already have the bed.  It’s the Erin Cute as a Button Bed from World Market.

We also have our nightstands and a dresser.  They’re all from Ikea.

and

2 Malm 3-drawer chests (used as nightstands)

We’ve pretty much decided that instead of lamps on the nightstands, we’d rather have these Ribba Frames with overhead Lights in aluminum.

In keeping with the grey, lavender, and yellow theme of our inspiration picture, these are some pictures I’m considering for the Ribba frames.

I know I don’t want the same photo in each frame but I do want for the photos to be similar colors.  I think it’ll take a while to find exactly what I’m looking for.  Then again, we could do black and white…

As far as bedding is concerned, I’ve found the following:

I haven’t had much luck finding other grey-ish lavender coverlets.  Apparently this is going to take some intensive searching on my part.

I also found these throw pillows:

We still want to incorporate this Cuddler Chair from Z Gallerie with a throw (like the one that follows).

Saffron Cable Knit Throw

We’ll definitely need lighting behind that cuddle chair and I think this light is right up our alley.

In the picture, there’s a nifty yellow chair similar to this Valencia Club Chair in Butter.  I’m not sure if we’d actually have space for this chair but it’s possible.

Valencia Club Chair, Butter

Where I get stuck is this… our floors are not that rich, warm wood tone like in our inspiration photo.  Instead, they’re a light cream color similar to this below:

cottage cream

Because the color is so similar to that of the bed, I want to use a darker rug to anchor the room.  I’m leaning towards grey.  If I choose grey, however, then what color do I paint the walls?  Do I use a light cream like the photo?  A light grey?  A grey-ish lavender?  I’m at a loss.

Here are some rugs I’m considering:

And last but certainly not least… I’m considering doing this ‘above the headboard’ treatment with a white sheer and some sort of sunburst mirror.

Window Shopping Wednesday – Zara Home

Have you ever heard of a shop called Zara Home?  Nope?  Well I hadn’t either until the other day.  Turns out, they’re very similar to Anthropologie just without the insane price tag.

This weeks featured shop:  Zara Home

If you know me, you know that I love throw blankets.  This Hugo Throw is perfect for fall.  It should come live at my house (although if I’m honest, this is still out of my price range).

I like this Flag Decorative Quilt as well.  It looks great in this photo of what I assume is a teenage boys room but I also think it’d look amazing as the pop of color in a neutral room.

Man they have a selection of pillows to suit just about everyone.  I couldn’t pick just one so here are a few of my favorites.

Alhambra Pillow Cover

Everton Pillow

Minty Pillow

Ramio-Velvet Pillow (several colors available)

This New Leopold Bath Mat happens to match perfectly with my new master bedroom goodies.  I’m thinking he might need to come live in my master bath if his dimensions are right.

We love a little kitsch in our house and we have a goofy sense of humor.  We’d totally throw in this Duck Pitcher just to keep people guessing.

I’m not sure which set of servers I love more.

Cetus Servers

Or the Bernard Servers.  I do love me some mother of pearl.

OMG.  Speaking of kitsch and keeping people on their toes.  How freaking cute would it be to set a formal table and use these Bassotto Cutlery Rests?

These Swan Napkin Rings would be exquisite for a formal dining table.

This Asarta Stool is just wicked.  The texture is incredible!  Me amo!

I’ve never seen a frame quite like this Day Frame.  Gotta say, I’m a fan.

Man I think that’s probably my longest Window Shopping Wednesday EVER but there’s just so much cool stuff to find at Zara Home!  What would you buy?

Window Shopping Wednesday – Fat Quarter Shop

Do you like to look at pretty fabrics?  I do – and I did long before I ever got a sewing machine (not that I actually have the time to sew anything now that I do own a sewing machine).  Anywho, I found this shop waaaay back at the beginning of the year and I keep going back just to look at all the nifty stuff they have.  Pretty much everything here is devoted to quilting (which I’d love to learn how to do but honestly don’t think I’ll ever be good at).  That being said, there are tons of quilters out there that are willing to use fabric that you provide so if you want one, you don’t actually have to sew the sucker yourself.  Here are a few things that caught my eye this week.

This weeks featured shop: Fat Quarter Shop

Bella Fat Quarter Bundle Lotta Jansdotter for Windham Fabrics Aren’t the colors amazing?  It’s modern and sophisticated and colorful all at the same time.  Love love love.

Animal Parade Fat Quarter Bundle Ana Davis for Blend Fabrics  So I’m not big on pink, like, at all and if I were to have a little girl I still wouldn’t be big on pink.  That being said, I’m relatively certain the rest of the world likes pink for little girls.  If it’s gotta be pink, I like this option.

Creek The Birds and the Bees Fat Quarter Bundle Tula Pink for Free Spirit Fabrics  I really love this color selection – the blues, purples, and greens go really well together.  The trees (see the square right above where it says ‘bees’) and the lady bugs (bottom right) are definitely my favorite.

Adventure Celebrate Seuss 2 Fat Quarter Bundle Dr. Seuss Enterprises for Robert Kaufman Fabrics  So my stepbrother has a serious love for all things Dr. Seuss.  If he were ever to have a kiddo I would totally have a quilt made for the rugrat out of this fabric.  So fun.

Outback Down Under Fat Quarter Bundle Mint Blossom for Northcott Fabrics  This would be a great set of fabrics for a quilt in a modern nursery.  I see grey walls, white trim, with navy and yellow accents.  So posh.

Holiday Fat Quarter Bundle Michael Miller Fabrics  I can tell you that my husband would make me buy this fat quarter set just for the argyle print.  Personally I’m kinda lovin the reindeer.

What do you think?  Does any of this make you want to have a quilt in your home?
